This morning, Barrels of Fun, maker of the new Labyrinth pinball machine. Shared a rare behind-the-scenes look at its factory in action on its Facebook page. I’m a sucker for this sort of peek behind the curtain at manufacturers. Stern Pinball always does a great job at showing games on the floor at its factory, so it’s great to see Barrels join in the fun.
According to the Company’s recent seminar at the Pintastic New England show, Barrels of Fun is currently manufacturing 4-5 games per day and they expect to ultimately sell out their entire 1,100 run of Labrynth.
The Barrels of Fun folks recently said that game number two is already a flipping whitewood. Let’s do some rough back-of-the-envelope math to come up with a most likely incorrect estimate as to when game two may be revealed.
Let’s say that they still need to build 900 more Labyrinths. At 5 games per day (and I expect that number to increase at some point), it would take 180 business days to build all of the remaining units of game 1. 180 days divided by 5 days per week is 36 weeks. 36 weeks is 9 months. Using that very rough estimate, Barrels would finish building Labyrinths by the end of 2024. So maybe we see game number 2 revealed in late fall, perhaps earlier in the fall if the production rate picks up or Labyrinth doesn’t sell out? I’m looking forward to seeing it.
