Until now, the extent we are able to interior design with a touch of PlayStation polish has been limited to mindful displays of PlayStation game cases, strategically placed PlayStation consoles, and the gratuitous placement of other PlayStation products. Until now, that is. Welcome to the stage (and your living room) the new PBteen Collection inspired by PlayStation. Studio Spotlight: Greg Callahan
Last month, we shared a preview of the epic Days Gone statue depicting Deacon’s struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. As you may recall from last month’s newsletter, Gary Barth, our in-house collectibles producer, is working diligently with various parties to get this statue manufactured, finished, and ready for retail.
Unpainted Prototype
What you may not know is that collectibles often involve multiple donors; instrumental minds charged with the design and development of these historic works of art. In the case the piece shown above, Bend Studio staffer Greg Callahan designed and sculpted this stirring statue.

We asked Greg to share his experience in designing this emotionally charged treasure…
“When I was given the opportunity to design and sculpt this piece, I really wanted it to be a snapshot of the brutal combat the player experiences in Days Gone. Many of these encounters happen so quickly in-game that the player only gets a glimpse of the detail that the development team puts into every combat encounter. When viewing the diorama, you get to examine everything from the facial expressions to the particles that might go unnoticed in the heat of the moment.
I really enjoyed the challenge of capturing a dynamic pose and making sure the statue flows from as many angles as possible. While the emphasis is clearly on Deacon, each Freaker is posed in a sequential manner so that the viewer can imagine the path of Deacon’s destruction as he fights for survival through a swarm of Freakers.”
Greg, we sincerely hope to see more of your work manifest into more collectible keepsakes!
NECA Unites Father and Son
This year’s God of War game release was nothing short of groundbreaking. There is a richness to the depth of the characters and the relationships among them more complicated. Kratos is, well, more human; he is a warrior by trade, but a father by choice. Enter Atreus, the conflicted son of Kratos grappling with incredible life changing events, family surprises, and new responsibilities. The gameplay is utterly captivating, but the humanity displayed by these characters in their relentlessly combative world makes this game a must-play-to-the-end. I cannot imagine this game without Atreus undertaking the journey with father, Kratos. Similarly, I cannot imagine my collectibles collection with one and not the other. Luckily, I don’t have to! Thanks to the folks at NECA, we can now add both Kratos and Atreus to our figurine collections. The pair are available for pre-order at Big Bad Toy Store and Entertainment Earth.
Be sure to get these iconic figures while supplies last!
