Whoa, here’s an unexpected treat for a Friday afternoon. Right around noon Eastern time today, Raw Thrills and Play Mechanix shared a surprise teaser video on social media and YouTube that may possibly be hinting at the return of the iconic 1993 Midway’s classic arcade game NBA Jam.
The teaser video itself is somewhat vague about what is “Coming Soon” but from the looks of it, it’s obviously a basketball game that comes in a giant 4-Player cabinet. The NBA Jam aspect of it is more speculation on my part based upon other hints that I have seen dropped.
I sure hope that it’s NBA Jam. My boys still love that game to this day. They play it on my 4-player MAME cabinet with their friends from time to time. The original game is absolutely iconic, in my humble opinion. It’s possible that it’s a similar basketball game that doesn’t have the actual “NBA Jam” brand name. Time will tell. I will report back here as soon as I hear anything.
UPDATE: Someone shared this picture in the comments below. I didn’t know that this information was out yet (maybe it’s not? lol). The new Raw Thrills game is called NBA Super Stars. It looks VERY NBA Jam-like without the actual name.
The next slam dunk from Raw Thrills and Play Mechanix is tipping off soon…
Since it’s Friday, you know what that means, the always cool peek at the Stern Pinball Production line. Not surprisingly, today’s video showed tons of Stern’s newest game John Wick Pro on the line.
Speaking of John Wick Pro, Stern Pinball is streaming gameplay of it this afternoon live on its YouTube channel.
