Dungeons of the Amber Griffin- 1st Place for Best Indie Game at Digital Dragons

Frozengem Studio is extremely proud to have won 1st place at Digital Dragons in the Indie Showcase category!

Digital Dragons is one of the most important events in Central and Eastern Europe dedicated to the video game industry. This annual conference, held in Krakow, Poland, brings together developers, publishers, investors, and game enthusiasts from around the world.

One of the key elements of Digital Dragons is the competition where developers can showcase their games and compete for awards in various categories such as best game, best design, and best sound.

“Our innovative production, which immerses players in the depths of Kashubian magic and culture, was awarded 1st place in the Indie Showcase, overcoming extremely strong competition. We are delighted that the jury appreciated our more than four years of effort in creating a game dedicated to preserving the endangered Kashubian culture,” says Tomasz Rożyński, CEO of Frozengem Studio.

Over the past year, the Frozengem Studio team has worked intensively on the game, resulting in a new, playable version now available on Steam. Players can now experience the game with music by the renowned band Percival Schuttenbach (co-creators of music for The Witcher 3 and The Witcher Netflix series) in the latest version of the Unreal Engine 5.4.1.

“The past year has been very challenging for our small team. We had to overcome many production constraints. On our YouTube channel, players can watch a 25-minute gameplay video showcasing the game’s story mode,” adds Tomasz Rożyński

Last year, the studio announced a Kickstarter campaign for 2024, but it has not yet launched.

“We are aware that working without a budget for marketing, the Kickstarter campaign might simply fail. We were quietly hoping for a grant from CRPK, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out. We focused on production, but winning at Digital Dragons has opened up new opportunities that we definitely plan to take advantage of,” says Tomasz Rożyński.

In addition to game production, Frozengem Studio has been involved in organizing the “Jantar Gamedev” event – game development workshops held at the Museum of Kashubian-Pomeranian Literature and Music in Wejherowo. On the occasion of the most important Kashubian holiday, Kashubian Unity Day, Frozengem Studio organized a ballet show using 3D video mapping technology at the Museum’s palace.

“We have already held two editions of Jantar Gamedev. In our region, there is a great lack of regular events where experiences can be shared. Game development workshops are a great opportunity to meet new people, expand knowledge, and of course, search for new talents.

We created the dance and ballet group Jantarowe Zjawy, which we train for stage performances and plan to record motion capture for the game. We are expanding our activities to be comprehensively prepared for artistic events related to the game’s world,” says Tomasz Rożyński.

An interesting new feature in the game is the Benchmark Mode, where players can test the performance of their computers.

“We’re pushing the Unreal Engine 5.4.1 to its limits. Since the beginning of our production, we have strived to stay in constant contact with players, for example, through Discord. Thanks to our community, we can test the game’s performance and, in the future, reward players for their feedback on Discord,” says Tomasz Rożyński.

We invite you to play the game!
