Sterns Unveils Images for new “The Uncanny X-Men” Cabinet

On September 4th, Stern Pinball confirmed the opening for sales of its new cabinet based on The Uncanny X-men. Specifically, this cabinet is based on the Days of Future Past and Mind out of Time stories from 1981. Though the art is based on comics from that era of the comic book series, the cabinet’s similarity to the art style of the recent Disney Plus series X-Men ’97 is noteworthy, pointing to possible broad crossover appeal for fans of the franchise at large. Comic artist Jeremy Packer, also known as Zombie Yeti, illustrates the game experience, and Stern has released new close-up visuals of various elements of the Pro, Premium, and Limited Edition tables. A wide-ranging soundtrack by Charlie Benante of Anthrax and Pantera provides audio representation of movement of the game into different eras of X-Men history. The launch trailer, which can be seen here, demonstrates some of the board’s more explicitly antagonistic features- such as how the mechanically articulated Sentinel can destroy ramps and actively impede gameplay, though some of the Sentinel’s responses are only available for the Premium and Limited Edition models. Greater details about these features can be seen here. The Danger Room is also translated as a core gameplay feature, a small section in the bottom left portion of the board that emphasizes repetition of specific shots to better hone the player’s skills for the main game. While featuring integration with Stern’s Insider Connected app, by and large The Uncanny X-Men maintains the appearance of a classic, cartoony board. Wolverine, Professor X, Cyclops, Storm, Colossus, Beast, Rogue, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Jean Grey, Bishop, Kitty Pryde, and Magneto are all confirmed characters for the table. There are Pro, Premium, and Limited Edition versions of the table, the latter of which will only have 811 units produced in homage to the adapted storylines taking place in Marvel’s Earth-811 timeline. And finally, some stills from that Limited Edition table-
