BritneysPAIRS has done it again! The release of CoinOPS Deluxe “Inspire” (aka Micro) has taken the retro gaming community by storm, setting a new benchmark for quality and craftsmanship in loaded front ends. This stunning release is more than just a gaming platform—it’s an experience, meticulously designed to immerse you in a world where art meets technology.
I really like the modern look of the deluxe build. It’s sort of what I’ve been looking for really. I’ve never really liked the aesthetics of the old arcade rooms décors they were always a migraine inducing experience. I’m trying to have the arcade experience but in a modern aesthetic. For those unaware, CoinOps now supports Ultimarc ServoStiks out of the box. Upon launching a 4-way game, the ServoStik’s motorized gate automatically switches to 4-way mode based on meta data. Exiting the game reverts it back to 8-way mode, requiring no user configuration. This seamless feature further enhances the user experience.

BritneysPAIRS, the visionary behind CoinOPS Deluxe, continues to shape the emulation scene with a focus on quality and innovation. However, recent frustrations with the direction of the community have led him to reevaluate his approach.
“The question isn’t that this stuff happens,” BritneysPAIRS remarked on Discord, “the question is why release anything into this stuff? Before, you used to see mainly official builds with some mods; now it’s all mods. It’s not worth the time to release anything official.”
This sentiment has driven BritneysPAIRS to hold back on public releases, instead focusing on developer-oriented builds. Despite stepping back, he remains committed to pushing the boundaries of what CoinOPS can achieve, from dynamic marquee displays to automatic controller setups.

Community engagement remains a cornerstone of BritneysPAIRS’ philosophy. He actively responds to feedback, offering solutions for customisation and sharing insights on updates. When asked about potential features, such as user profiles and local high scores, BritneysPAIRS responded with characteristic pragmatism:
“It’s easy to implement different favourites lists or user accounts, but it’s not something heavily requested. Still, we’re considering it.”
Despite challenges, BritneysPAIRS looks to the future with guarded optimism. He has plans to expand the project, including adding unique codecs, more games, and potential online features like peer-to-peer co-op. “Hopefully locked down now,” BritneysPAIRS said, referencing efforts to protect his work, “and hope it inspires people to do better… seek for more than just mediocrity.”
JJTheKing45’s Clone for Attract Mode
Interestingly, JJTheKing45 has already cloned the themes from CoinOPS Deluxe Inspire to work with Attract Mode. As shared on Emuline:
“All assets came from the RetroFE Build (CoinOPS). I just cloned it to work with Attract Mode + Version 3.0.9 Build 551.”

While this showcases the versatility of the front end, purists might argue that nothing beats the original experience of the official CoinOPS release.

Advice for Gamers: Keep It Standalone (For Now!)
YouTuber RomRammer has demonstrated how to add packs to this build. While this is an option, it’s worth noting that doing so may compromise the cohesive artwork and carefully crafted design of the original release.
Our Recommendation:
Keep CoinOPS Deluxe Inspire as a standalone arcade build for now (with a few consoles already in the mix). Let the CoinOps legend work his magic and release add-ons at his own pace. This approach preserves the integrity of the system and ensures the best gaming experience.
Plans for the Future: Educating Without the Drama
As we enter the new year, Arcade Punks will begin marking older versions of CoinOps as out of date. Our goal is to keep the community informed and ensure the latest releases are always accessible and on point.
We’d love to open a line of communication with someone from the CoinOps team to collaborate effectively. We’re not interested in releasing builds on launch day but rather in educating the community without the drama, hassles, or toxicity of internet chat rooms and forums.
