The gaming hardware company CRKD announced earlier today the upcoming release of two new Gibson Les Paul Guitar Controllers. The Ebony Encore and Alpine White variants join the Cherry Sunburst and Blueberry Burst pro editions which were released last year. CRKD has announced a shipping window of late March for the new guitars. They are currently available for pre-order on CRKD’s website.
While the guitars are broadly intended to be used for Fortnite Festival, a brand with which CRKD is partnered, CRKD has confirmed that the guitars will work with all classic Playstation games in the Guitar Hero and Rock Band series. However, this compatibility is only confirmed for as far back as the Playstation 3. Original guitars for the Playstation 3 could not play the Playstation 2 Guitar Hero games even on a reverse compatible Playstation 3 due to Bluetooth requirements. Rock Band 4 for the Playstation 4 and Playstation 5 also works with the controllers, as does Yarg and Clone Hero for modern devices. CRKD will also release new fret necks in April, as well as new button packs and a new guitar display controller stand in May. All of the new items can be purchased here.
