Choosing whether to admit the truth or refute Adreona in Diablo 4‘s Fate Laughs at us All quest is a little confusing. After all, choices don’t often seem to matter in ARPGs, or at least, beyond their immediate consequences, the outcome is generally the same. But sometimes a decision will crop up that has you questioning what you thought you knew.
This one such choice occurs when Queen Adreona confronts you in the observatory on Skovos. Obviously, this guide will contain spoilers surrounding this choice, so you shouldn’t be here if you haven’t yet reached this point in the Lord of Hatred campaign. Otherwise, though, I’ll lay out each response below and explain the choice.
Should you admit the truth or refute Adreona in Diablo 4?
When you’re confronted by Queen Adreona in the observatory on Skovos, you’ll be given a choice. You can either tell her the truth about your history with Lilith or you can lie and try to shrug it off.
What I’m sure you’re really wondering, though, is whether this choice matters? Safe to say this choice makes no difference to the main story, and the outcome will still be the same.
As someone close to you says, they’ve made their mind up and nothing you say is going to make a difference. Still, here are the options and Adreona’s response to each:
- It’s true, but I trust Lilith no more than you do. I want the same thing as you, to save Sanctuary from Hatred: If you choose this, Adreona claims Lilith played you as she always played people, but then Oracle Cyra will speak up in your defence and explain her part in events.
- Akarat lies to you. No demon lives within me: Adreona explains that she had you followed and so knows what you’ve been up to. Again, Oracle Cyra speaks up to save you.
- Does it matter what I say? Akarat has already poisoned your mind against me: Adreona’s response to this is the same as the second option, as is Cyra’s.
- Forget me. Listen to your advisors, they’re telling you the truth: If you choose this, Adreona will claim she has to hear it from you, and you’ll be forced to pick one of the three options above instead.
So ultimately the choice doesn’t matter. Either way, Oracle Cyra will speak up in your defence, explaining her role in events since you came to Skovos, and you’ll be spared.
