At 12:08 pm Pacific on Friday, Discord announced that it was investigating errors preventing some users to connect to the chat application. After confirming that it had identified the issue, Discord issued an update at 1:16 pm Pacific saying that it was “seeing significant recovery” and was continuing to restore services.
In a follow-up at 1:19 pm Pacific, Discord reiterated that it’s “beginning to see recovery on our systems and are continuing recovery operations to get the service into a fully healthy state.”
If you already had Discord open, you may not notice the downtime, but those booting it up may be unable to connect.
During the outage, we tested out Discord on our own machines and noticed that we get an error while trying to load friends’ profiles, presumably due to the API issues. For some of our staff, those issues have since resolved, but if you still see “Unable to load parts of profile” while clicking someone’s avatar or a familiar red “Messages failed to load ” error, those issues might resolve as Discord continues to restore services.
