Robots and matter-altering powers help you get the edge in combat and exploration, in a new Exodus extended gameplay reveal

You can check out all the games from The PC Gaming Show on the show’s Steam page, where you can wishlist your most-anticipated games and get more information on everything shown!

Well alright, alright, alright, highlights from Future Games Show’s extended Exodus gameplay video just aired during the PC Gaming Show. What is this, a crossover episode? Okay, I’ll stop with the catchphrases—for now.

For those of you not in the know, Exodus is the time-hopping space exploration RPG from Archetype Entertainment. In it, you step into the shoes of the Traveler and fight against an ancient race of Celestials. There’s also space-y wace-y, time-y wime-y stuff going on. Every time you embark on a mission, relativity means time passes way faster on your homebase planet than it does for you and your crew up in space. Game director Chris King teases the effect this will have on the game in the trailer.

As an RPG, a lot of choices are in your hands. “Along the way, you’ll decide who stands with you, what risks you take, and what you bring back, shaping your path and the future you return to, where time has moved on without you,” King explains. We also get another look at Persepolis, the sprawling city that will change as you’re gone. Every time I go back to the part of London I grew up in, it feels different, so I hope this will amplify that sensation by quite a magnitude.

Alongside some pretty cinematics, we get a look at Exodus’ meaty combat. There’s an aerial takedown that would make Ezio weep with joy, a healthy dose of cover-based shooting, and some explosive gadgets, as well as a cloaking device that lets you run right up to an enemy and stab them right between their tentacles—ouch.

If you’re a fan of Mass Effect, or sci-fi like The Expanse or Interstellar, Exodus is looking like a treat. Especially for me, because I’ve been a big fan of Matthew McConaughey since the McConnaisance, and I’m excited to see how his character helps shape the world of the game.
