Grab a free Steam game full of misery and decision-making for a limited time

In 2021, when The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante came out on Steam, our Shaun Prescott called it “a text heavy narrative RPG with a huge emphasis on gruelling decision making.” Think of those decision-heavy simulations like Princess Maker, only in a grim-and-gritty fantasy setting that cranks up the George R. R. Martin dial to max.

“Step into the harsh world of the Blessed Arknian Empire and experience the life of Sir Brante,” as the announcement puts it, “a man born into a rigid society where every choice matters and every decision carries consequences. Shape your destiny through years of struggle, ambition, sacrifice, and suffering in this narrative RPG, where your actions determine not only your own fate but also the fate of those around you.”

The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is free to keep on Steam until July 23 to promote the upcoming release of a new game in the same setting, The Life and Suffering of Prince Jerian, which casts you in the role of a crown prince, born to a life of political intrigue. A whole new flavor of suffering to enjoy.

I’ll be playing Sir Brante to consider it for inclusion in the toughest choices in PC games listicle. If you can think of anything else that’s missing from the list, shout it out in the comments and I’ll consider it for addition in a future update.
