Late last year, Yacht Club Games founder Sean Velasco described Mina The Hollower as “make or break” for the studio. After a long development process and a last-minute delay, Yacht Club needed Mina to hit if it was going to have a future. Two months since launch, and it’s fair to say that it’s hit.
The game shifted a whopping 300,000 sales in its first three days, and surpassed the big 500,000-mark in the following weeks. I crowned it my Game of the Year So Far in our recent mid-year feature, and I’m not alone in my admiration — it currently sits on a ‘Must Play’ Metascore of 90 based on 68 critic reviews.
