N64 Racer ‘Extreme-G’ Just Got An Unofficial PC Port With Increased Frame Rates & So Much More

A recompiled PC port of Probe Entertainment and Acclaim’s N64 futuristic racing game, Extreme-G, has just been released, giving the game “a chance to shine again on modern hardware” with various enhancements.

Extreme-G was originally released in 1997, almost a year before Wipeout 64 debuted on the Nintendo console and nearly two years before Star Wars Episode 1 Racer, and was a commercial success upon launch, garnering positive reviews from critics and kickstarting a series that would include three more titles. This included a Nintendo 64 successor Extreme-G 2 (1998), a “next-gen” follow-up across PS2 and GameCube called Extreme-G 3/XGIII: Extreme G Racing (2001), and one final entry XGRA: Extreme-G Racing Association (2002) for Xbox, PS2, and GameCube
