Castlevania means different things to different people, but a generation of players, when they think about the franchise, immediately recalls Ayami Kojima’s sumptuous artwork, which has graced entries such as Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, and Lament of Innocence.
This year marks Castlevania’s 40th anniversary, and Konami has launched a site celebrating that fact. Recently, posts have circulated on social media claiming the artwork featured on the site was created for the occasion by Kojima herself, but (as lovely as the art is) that’s sadly not the case.
