Classic Game Boy Color shmup returns.
Limited Run Games has revealed teaser images of its upcoming Collector’s Edition for the Game Boy Color re-release, R-Type DX. The physical GBC title is part of a new range of R-Type DX merch available to pre-order from September 15.
Released in 1999, R-Type DX featured both the original Game Boy editions of R-Type and R-Type II, developed by Irem and released for the handheld in 1991. Outside of the enhanced colour graphics, both titles remained mostly untouched, ambitiously replicating the arcade shmup action that made the franchise such a hit in arcade centres in the late ’80s and early ’90s.
