One of the great white whales of the emulation world has long been Sega’s Star Wars Trilogy Arcade, which debuted in 1998 and maintained a presence on the global market for many years, despite an enormous downturn in arcade profitability.
Built on Sega’s powerful Model 3 hardware, Star Wars Trilogy Arcade featured scenes pulled directly from the phenomenal sci-fi film series. The game allows players to take control of Star Wars’ Yavin battle, complete with its climactic Death Star trench run. The Empire Strikes Back was represented by the sub-zero war on the frosted plains of Hoth, while Return of the Jedi contributed Endor’s Speeder Bike chase and base capture.
