“We’re definitely getting close to the final phase”.
Just last week, we received the perhaps unsurprising news that 007 First Light was going to be delayed on Switch 2. Again. That ‘Summer 2026’ window has been pushed to March 2027, and in light of the new release date, developer IO Interactive has spoken about its reasoning for the rescheduling.
In a new interview with Inven Global, IO technical producer Cristina Vega clarifies that “While being delayed for a third time is certainly disappointing news for fans, this decision was also made for their benefit”. While this delay stemmed from the team needing “a brief breather” after an extended period of pushing the development, “combined with requests from marketing and various other factors” and implementing a new ‘Meshnets’ rendering system, Vega is reassuringly optimistic about the Switch 2 port as a whole:
