Working out how to tame the Baby Wyvern pet in Crimson Desert is relatively complicated, especially if you’re not that patient. Unlike the Phoenix, who you have to trick-shoot from the sky, or the Iron Eagle, which consumes a bar of platinum, taming this flying beast is far more relaxed.
You basically have to find the wyvern egg and then hatch it, at which point it registers as a pet. The most exciting part? Patch notes mention that this pet will become a mount in future updates when it grows up. So, here’s what you need to know to hatch the Baby Wyvern in Crimson Desert.
How to tame the Baby Wyvern pet in Crimson Desert
Before you can tame the Baby Wyvern, you’ll first need the Focused Force Palm ability. If you missed this in Chapter 4 on the way to Scholastone (like I did) and the phantom doesn’t appear for you at the blockage on the road between Fort Perwin and Kharonso, then you’ll have to wait until Chapter 9 to do this.
During the first quest, The Calling, you’ll enter a desert temple and will have to purify the statues with Focused Force Palm, at which point the skill magically unlocks in your tree.
To hatch the Baby Wyvern, you need to go to Wyvern’s Cradle in southwest Deleysia (the easternmost region in Pywel). You can find this location to the west of where it says Dewhaven on the map, north of Three Brothers’ Cliff. Clear out the Wyvernflame enemies occupying it and you’re ready to tame a dragon.
If you have the Children of the Woods quest from the Pororin Forest Guardians, you’ll also have to speak to Shai located in the nest, as otherwise you can’t use Focused Force Palm (I guess because they’re too close to the cave). You can also view the process in the video above, but otherwise:
- In the crater at the centre of Wyvern’s Cradle, climb the stairs up into the pillared section of the cave
- Follow the left wall looking for a mineral blockage you can clear with Focused Force Palm—do just that
- Head into the now-open cave and grab the wyvern egg (also open the chest while here)
- Take the egg back down the stairs you came up and drop it in one of the nests—make sure to place it exactly in the central nest, in the part made of twigs
If you do this correctly, the egg will start to shake and glow. Wait a few minutes and the intensity of the glowing and shaking will increase, meaning it’s time to approach the egg and interact with it to hatch your pet. The Baby Wyvern will appear and immediately register to you. Unlike bird pets, it’s a little too big to land on your arm, so will mostly hover nearby.
