The Panel de Pon series has to have one of the most confusing and convoluted histories of any Nintendo IP when it comes to its localisation.
Nintendo and Intelligent Systems’ popular puzzle series originally debuted on the Super Famicom in Japan back in 1995, with the release of Panel de Pon. However, Nintendo chose not to release it under the same name in the West, instead localising it as Tetris Attack and famously swapping out the fairy-like aesthetic for characters and locations from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island.
