The next chapter

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance continues the adventures of the Expedition Team in the Forbidden Lands further past the ending of the main story in Monster Hunter Wilds. The arrival of new monsters and the passage of time bring significant change to the world and characters we first met in the base game.

The story begins with the sudden appearance of the colossal Elder Dragon Lao-Shan Lung in the Forbidden Lands, leaving the Expedition Team and its members powerless as devastation unfolds around them. The story moves forward several years as the Expedition fortifies their position in preparation for the return of Lao-Shan Lung, including the construction of Madoi Stronghold.

As time passes, the mist that once shrouded Wyveria’s skies finally clears, revealing the Skybound Eyrie: a new locale floating high above the clouds. This mysterious new region features lush open landscapes, ancient ruins, and never-before-seen endemic life. A vast and unexplored frontier awaits in the sky!

Familiar faces from Monster Hunter Wilds return changed by the years that have passed since the encounter with Arkveld. Nata, the young Keeper turned apprentice Hunter, has now grown into a full-fledged member of the Expedition Team. He steps into the fray alongside his Wudwud partner Bangard. Guided by the pair, Hunters will venture into the Skybound Eyrie, where many unexpected events await them.

As you explore, you’ll investigate ecological disturbances that seem to have been set in motion by Lao-Shan Lung’s arrival. Strange abnormalities in the Forbidden Lands, the sudden expansion of Guardian Monsters’ habitats, and the emergence of Elder Dragons are just a few of the mysteries and discoveries that lie ahead. What lies at the source of these strange phenomena?

New monsters

Araketa – A Bird Wyvern that soars the skies in packs

A newly discovered large monster, capable of high-speed flight across vast distances by controlling powerful air currents released from its wings. Leaders of the pack can emit distinctive calls that enable them to command and coordinate the movements of the pack.

Gundoraja – An Elder Dragon that controls storm clouds

A newly discovered Elder Dragon with the ability to bend the storm to its will has suddenly emerged from the darkest clouds over the Skybound Eyrie. What awaits our Hunters with this thunderous new foe?
